USING COSA WITH THE ARDUINO IDE/BOARDS MANAGER ============================================== 1. Add the URL to the Cosa package definition file to the Arduino IDE Preferences>Additional Boards Manager URLs field. https://raw.githubusercontent.com/mikaelpatel/Cosa/master/package_cosa_index.json 2. Open the Arduino IDE Boards Manager in the Tools>Board menu. 3. Select Cosa and install. USING COSA WITH THE ARDUINO IDE/TOOLCHAIN ========================================= 1. Download and install Arduino IDE. Default install directory in Cosa build script is $HOME/opt/arduino-VERSION 2. Download and install Cosa. Default install directory for Cosa is $HOME/Sketchbook/hardware/Cosa (Arduino 1.0.X) $HOME/Sketchbook/hardware/Cosa/avr (Arduino 1.5.X) 3. Start Arduino IDE. cd $HOME/opt/arduino-VERSION ; ./arduino 4. Open sketch, compile and upload, and start serial monitor. a. Set board; Tools>Board>Cosa BOARD b. Set port; Tools>Port> c. Open example sketch; File>Sketchbook/hardware>Cosa>... d. Compile and upload; File>Upload e. Open Serial Monitor; Tools>Serial Monitor USING COSA WITH THE GCC AVR TOOLCHAIN (UBUNTU) ============================================== 1. Install gcc-avr (1:48-2.1) with avr-libc and avrdude with Ubuntu Software Center or apt-get. 2. Set environment variable COSA_DIR to the Cosa install directory. COSA_DIR=$HOME/Cosa ; export COSA_DIR 3. Set environment variable GCC_AVR_VER to gcc-4.2. GCC_AVR_VER=gcc-avr-4.2 ; export GCC_AVR_VER 4. Add COSA_DIR/build to PATH or add a symbolic link in local bin to COSA_DIR/bin/cosa. ln -s $COSA_DIR/build/cosa $HOME/bin/cosa 5.
