--- title: Quick Introduction to Toyota Network Training --- ## Quick Introduction to Toyota Network Training Toyota Network Training (TNT) provides pathways for those looking to undertake an apprenticeship fully aligned with Toyota product and technology. ### TNT program advantages There are a number of advantages to training through Toyota Network Training, including: * Achieving nationally-recognised Service Technician or Pro Technician status (as applicable) within Toyota, as well as Australia-wide recognised qualifications (Certificate II or III) * Being taught by Toyota-trained deliverers in Training Workshops * Using Toyota equipment and parts * Fewer days away from the dealership at Training Workshops (compared to standard training through other providers) * Easy upskilling - Toyota-trained Service Technicians can continue into an apprenticeship (upon request by the dealership) - entering directly into the Repair Phase Toyota Network Training (TNT) is a series of training programs designed to build technical capability within dealerships. These programs are customised to Toyota material and requirements, and provide dealership staff with nationally recognised Toyota qualifications. ### TNT programs There are two key training programs: * Toyota Traineeship program - Service Technician - Certificate II * Toyota Apprenticeship program - Pro Technician - Certificate III A Workplace Mentor Program has also been developed to assist dealerships to support apprentices and trainees. ## Toyota Traineeship - Service Technician (Certificate II) __What is the Toyota Traineeship?__ The Toyota Traineeship has been developed to provide a qualification for routine servicing/Service Technicians and is aligned to a Certificate II in Automotive Servicing Technology (AUR20512). The Traineeship content is equivalent to the Service Phase training from the Cert III Apprenticeship, with the addition of Service Tech Foundations. If the dealership wishes a trained Toyota Service Technician to continue into a Certificate III Apprenticeship, the Service Technician can enter the Apprenticeship directly in Phase 2 (Repair 1) with no unnecessary retraining. __What is covered in the Toyota Traineeship?__ | Service Tech Foundations | Service | |---------------------------|-------------------------- | | Work Effectively | Fundamentals of Service | | Working with Numbers | Service Operations | | | Chassis Service | | | Engine Service | | | Driveline Service | __Who should do the Toyota Traineeship?__ The Traineeship allows a more flexible career pathway than direct entry into a full Apprenticeship. The Traineeship is ideally suited for staff intended to work in routine servicing (e.g. Express Maintenance Bays). It is also often used for staff new to working in a dealership environment or to the workforce, who may later be suited to becoming a Pro Technician. ## Toyota Apprenticeship - Pro Technician (Certificate III) ### What is the Toyota Apprenticeship? The Toyota Apprenticeship program is aligned to the Certificate III in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology (AUR30612) and comprises two key Phases: Service and Repair. The Repair Phase is split into two parts (Repair 1 and Repair 2). At the end of the Service Phase, an apprentice is competent to complete a routine service. Following completion of the Repair Phase, the apprentice has completed their Certificate III and is recognised by Toyota as a Pro Technician. ### What is covered in the Toyota Apprenticeship? | Service | Repair 1 | Repair 2 | |---------------------------|------------------------|-------------------| | Fundamentals of Service | Fundamentals of Repair | Chassis Repair | | Service Operations | Electrical Repair | Engine Repair | | Chassis Service | | Driveline Service | | Engine Service | | | | Driveline Service | | | ### Who should do the Toyota Apprenticeship? The Toyota Apprenticeship is best suited to a staff member intended to be a future Pro Technician. It would also suit an existing Service Technician intended to become a Pro Technician. ## Training approach The Toyota Apprenticeship and Traineeship are delivered through three modes: * Online Pre-read & Assessment (reading core knowledge and completing tests) * Off-job Training Workshop (classroom and skills practice) * On-job Dealership Tasks (Workplace Mentor-supervised task completion) Apprentices/trainees are required to demonstrate competency in all three modes (as applicable) to be deemed competent in a module/unit. Note - Only Workplace Mentors who have successfully completed the Toyota Workplace Mentor Program can sign off apprentice/trainee Dealership Tasks.
