--- date: 2016-02-01 title: Chromtec™ Wheels --- ## Background From November 2015 Technical Change, Kluger Grande adopted Chromtec™ chrome clad 19 alloy wheels. This design features the use of an alloy wheel with a hard wearing plastic face permanently bonded to the structural backbone wheel that provides the wheel with its overall design and surface finish. Chromtec™ cladding allows the underlying alloy wheel to be lighter in weight, whilst the hard wearing face provides greater resistance against wear from the elements such as sand and dirt than a traditional chrome plated wheel. Chromtec™ technology offers the ability to create tighter radii, sharper lines and details by using high-impact composite materials. ![Chromtec Wheel](http://static.toyotainstituteaustralia.com.au/img/content/factsheets/32/chromtec.jpg) _Chromtec™ Wheel shown_ **NOTE:** Chromtec™ cladding is not to be confused with hubcaps the cladding is not to be removed or replaced. ## General Precautions Chromtec™ cladding is not removable the cladding cannot to be removed or replaced. **Do not attempt to remove the cladding or it will be damaged.** ## Care & Maintenance Care and maintenance is as per the Owner’s Manual instructions for alloy wheels, refer below. * Remove any dirt immediately by using a neutral detergent, do not use hard brushes or abrasive cleaners. Do not use strong or harsh chemicals cleaners. * Do not use detergent on the wheels when they are hot, for example after a long drive in hot weather. * Wash detergent from wheels immediately after cleaning. ## Tyre Replacement When replacing or balancing Chromtec™ wheels be mindful of the Chromtec™ cladding and that the cladding edge does not get caught on or contact balancing or tyre replacement equipment.
