In March this year, Toyota Australia released the all-new second-generation Camry Hybrid, built a tour very own Australian manufacturing plant in Altona, Victoria. The new model incorporates ahost of improvements from exhilarating driving performance to incredible levels of comfort. New Camry Hybrid is an absolute pleasure to drive. The 2012 Camry Hybrid combines a new 2.5L petrol engine with an advanced electric motor system to produce a powerful - yet economical - drive which takes you further on less fuel. Our world leading hybrid technology, Hybrid Synergy Drive®, offers an increase of power over the previous model by 11kW; taking the total power output up to an impressive 151kW. While the power has gone up, the fuel consumption has come down, with Camry Hybrid now consuming a miserly 5.2L/100kms on the combined cycle according to ADR 81/02 testing. Clearly showing that the Toyota Camry Hybrid has made it possible to achieve big car power with compact car economy. In addition to an increase in power, the new Camry Hybrid offers sophisticated styling, increased boot capacity, and an impressive line upon advanced technologies. Plus, there is the extensive list of safety features that help acheive a 5-star ANCAP Safety Rating.
## Creating An Exceptional Hybrid Experience
Before we consider how we can go about creating compelling reason for our customers to buy our new Camry Hybrid, let’s first look back at our own experience and how the new models first engaged our interest and appreciation. Sales consultants were invited to the Hybrid National Roadshows in April this year where we were given the opportunity to see and drive the all new Camry Hybrid for the first time. We were essentially ‘the customer’.

So think back, what was it that made us take notice of this vehicle? Was it the stylish appearance? Was it the sharp new interior? Or was it the exceptional drive qualities? General consensus tells us that once you drive the new Camry Hybrid, you gain yet another level of appreciation for the vehicle - on top of the already impressive list of features. With this in mind, it would appear critical that a comprehensive test drive would be the key togetting our customers to consider purchasing the Camry Hybrid. So when is the best time to offer a test drive to your customer? There is no right or wrong time, but early in your presentations would serve as an advantage as it is sure to impress your customers with its impressive ride qualities, as well as also helping to dismiss many preconceived stigmas your customers may have about Camry Hybrid’s power output and smooth driving qualities. Many of your customers may be very new to the benefits of hybrid technology, and as we may all now know from personal experience, the test drive really does go a long way to selling the many benefits.
**So in anticipation of a potential Camry Hybrid customer coming into your showroom, what could we do to give them the ultimate purchasing experience? Here are a couple of thoughts:**
1. Make sure that your showroom features a Camry Hybrid, preferably a HL grade. Have it placed in a position which allows for easy access to all doors and the boot, and has sufficient lighting to easily show and demonstrate the list of impressive features.
2. Ensure that there is a Camry Hybrid available as a test drive vehicle. It needs to be clean, tidy and positioned in a location which is easy to access from the showroom.
3. Check to see that there is enough fuel in the car. TIP: You could really impress your customersby completely filling the fuel tank and showing the amazing cruising range via (the various) Multi information Display’s during the test drive.
4. Have a comprehensive route mapped out which will best demonstrate the Camry Hybrid’s exceptional drive qualities. The test drive should be designed to impress your customers, so take the time to discuss a few options first, like whether they mainly do short city driving or do lots of highway kilometres. This could help to tail or your drive route to utilise small metropolitan roads or venture out to 80 and 100km/h speed zones.
5. Ensure that your customers are comfortable in the car,in both the passenger seat and when they later take position in the driver seat. They need to feel as if the car fits both themselves and their lifestyle perfectly. The more comfortable they are, the more likely they are to explore other features during the drive.
6. Allow them to safely operate the features within the cabin which they will use on a daily basis, such as steering controls, auto door locking settings, reverse camera, audio settings, etc. With the HL grade, ensure you safely demonstrate features like satellite navigation ^1, blind spot monitor^6, digital radio\#5, memory seats and electric rear sunshade. Create a little script to use during the drive which safely and thoroughly allows for all the key features to be demonstrated.
As many of us can certainly appreciate, the Camry Hybrid is a brilliant car to drive, and can even change the opinions of the harshest critics after a test drive. Ensure that you have given yourself the very best opportunity to present the Camry Hybrid in its most desirable capacity. An impressive test drive along with an outstanding ‘customer focused’ presentation is sure to lead to higher levels of sales and CSI.
