# Supported Browsers
You can experience MakeCode on a number of different operating system and browsers. In order to provide the best performance and support for features, the compatibility lists of browsers and operating system support for MakeCode is shown in the following sections.
## Windows
You need to have one of these **Windows** versions:
* Windows 11
* Windows 10
* Windows 8.1
* Windows 8
* Windows 7
The compatible **Windows** browsers are:
* Microsoft Edge ([Download](https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/edge))
* Google Chrome
* Mozilla Firefox
## Mac
You need to have one of these **macOS** versions:
* Sequoia 15
* Sonoma 14
* Ventura 13
* Monterey 12
* Big Sur 11
* Catalina 10.15
* Mojave 10.14
* High Sierra 10.13
* Sierra 10.12
The compatible **macOS** browsers are:
* Safari
* Microsoft Edge
* Google Chrome
* Mozilla Firefox
## iOS
The compatible **iOS** browsers are:
* Safari
* Microsoft Edge
* Google Chrome
## Android
The compatible **Android** browsers are:
* Google Chrome
* Microsoft Edge
## Linux
You need to have a **Linux** distribution recent enough to run the most recent
version of one of the following:
* Google Chrome or Chromium
* Mozilla Firefox
## Chrome OS
You need to have a **Chrome OS** version of:
* Version 70 or higher
## Internet Explorer

## How to check your OS or browser
If you need to find out which version of operating system (OS) and browser you currently have, see the following instructions to find out which versions they are:
### Windows
1. Click on the Start menu
2. Type 'System'
3. Click on the app called 'System'
4. The version of Windows you are using will be displayed:

### Mac
1. Click on the Apple icon in the top left
2. Click on 'About this Mac'
3. This window will be displayed:

### Microsoft Edge
Microsoft Edge automatically updates, so you should always be using the latest version.
1. Click on the menu icon in the top right (three dots)
2. Scroll to the bottom
3. Information similar to the following will be displayed:

### Google Chrome
Google Chrome automatically updates, so you should always be using the latest version.
1. Click on the menu icon in the top right (three dots)
2. Click Help, and About Google Chrome
3. Information similar to the following will be displayed:

### Firefox
Firefox automatically updates, so you should always be using the latest version.
1. Click on the menu icon in the top right (three horizontal lines)
2. Click the question mark icon (help button)
3. Click 'About Firefox'

### Safari
Safari updates when your operating system updates, so if you are using the
latest version of macOS then you'll be using the latest version of Safari.
1. Click on the Safari menu in the top left
2. Click 'About Safari'
