Module for updating outdated NPM modules based on semver specs.

# npm-update-outdated

This module thinly wraps the [npm update](https://www.npmjs.org/doc/cli/npm-update.html) command with a _--filter_ option in order to update modules matching a string or regex pattern.

By default, `npm-update-outdated` will update each of your project's node dependencies to the _wanted_ version shown by the `npm outdated` command.

## Installation

```
npm install -g npm-update-outdated
```

## Usage

```bash
$ cd /path/to/your/node/project
$ npm-update-outdated [options]
```

## Options

```bash
$ npm-update-outdated --help

  Usage: npm-update-outdated [options]

  Options:

	-h, --help               output usage information
    -V, --version            output the version number
    --filter <string|regex>  filter packages to be updated by string or regex
    --missing                install missing modules
    --save                   pass thru --save option to npm command
    --save-dev               pass thru --save-dev option to npm command
    --save-optional          pass thru --save-optional option to npm command
    --save-exact             pass thru --save-exact option to npm command
    --check-only             output list of outdated top-level modules
```

## TODO

Upcoming features include the following:
 * Update modules to the "latest" version as specified by `npm outdated`; This will include per module confirmation, because going to latest could break an application.
