# Season validity requires matched, balanced, divergent-outcome sets; season grades are discrimination across sets
**Status:** Re-homed (owner, 2026-07-16). Redirect only — no OSS engine-core behavior is defined here.
This decision has been **re-homed to the platform's seasons-governance canon as its
PLAT-ADR-0040 (set-law)**. That platform document governs: it holds the set-law in full —
matched, balanced, divergent-outcome sets; grade-as-discrimination-across-the-set; the
balance lint and its deliberately-unbalanced failing fixture; and the L3 season-validity
launch gate that sits beside the no-latency-blind gate.
This OSS file is **retained for numbering continuity** only, so citations to `adr/0042`
resolve. The season-validity set-law is benchmark-governance, which lives on the platform
side; the companion OSS decision that stays here is ADR-0040 (*clock-honest wakes*) — where
0040 says a latency-blind session can never ground a latency claim, the re-homed set-law
says an unbalanced season can never ground a judgment claim.
