Chess 960 is a variant played with the same board, pieces and rules than Orthodox Chess. The only difference is the start position: at the beginning of the game the positions of all the pieces except the pawns are randomly changed. Due to a few requirements, there are finally 960 different possible starting positions, that's why the game is called 960 chess. 960 chess is probably one of the most famous and played chess variant.
