��## Design Decisions FixtureSearch prioritizes ease of adoption, minimal configuration, and a clean developer experience for early-stage use cases. ### Why a Scoped MVP? - MVP limited to one sport and competition to reduce complexity and surface layout, accessibility, and branding requirements early. - Enables rapid testing with real users while avoiding over-engineering. ### JavaScript First - Chosen for initial speed and simplicity during prototyping. - Avoids unnecessary friction for devs evaluating component utility. - TypeScript support planned to reinforce contracts and maintainability. ### Vite + Bootstrap - Vite for lightweight dev experience and fast bundling. - Bootstrap 5 provides immediate layout consistency with minimal custom CSS. - Visual decisions defer to competition/sport context, simplifying early implementation. ### No Props (Yet) - All layout and data are embedded for now  ideal for MVPs and demos. - This decision keeps integration zero-config while internally validating the UI structure. - Planned shift to prop-driven configuration to support broader reuse and customization. ### Reusability + Versioning Strategy - Component design favors separation of layout, formatters, and sport metadata. - Roadmap includes theming, slotting, and formatter variants to support multi-context deployment. ## Internal Architecture Overview ### System Structure - **Frontend/Client** React or Blazor-based interfaces tailored to project needs. Emphasis on component reuse, lean interaction models, and Bootstrap 5 styling. - **API Layer** ASP.NET Web API with clearly segmented responsibilities: request parsing, validation, and orchestration. - **Processing Layer** Asynchronous workflows driven by SignalR and internal queue handlers for responsive, scalable task management. - **Persistence** Data storage follows clean mapping practices using domain-aligned contracts to ensure tech-agnostic models. ### Key Architectural Decisions - **Technology-Agnostic Modeling** Pure application models designed to travel freely across layers  no tight coupling with infrastructure. - **Queue-Driven Logic** Internal messaging systems separate flow control from execution, offering plug-in points for future extensions. - **Reusable Components** Built for portability and integration into MVPs like TripTab and Dev Practica. Frontend and backend modules encapsulate concerns cleanly. - **Layout & Styling** Structured UI patterns promote visual hierarchy, responsive design, and clarity  with attention to Bootstrap harmony and UX polish. ### Design Principles - **Simplicity First** Architecture favors direct, minimal abstractions. Every layer earns its keep  no bloat, no ceremony. - **Observability Hooks** Logging and diagnostics infrastructure ready for production-grade visibility into async and real-time operations. - **Growth-Ready Architecture** Modular structure supports iterative feature development, refactoring, and horizontal scaling as needed. ## Extension Ideas FixtureSearch is designed to evolve into a highly customizable and commercially versatile component. The current implementation is deliberately scoped, but the underlying structure supports a wide range of enhancements: ### Developer-Focused Enhancements - **Custom Formatters** Future releases will allow users to inject their own render logic, giving full control over layout and styling of each fixture row. The fixture object exposed from the API includes rich metadata to support visual theming, conditional content, and inline formatting. - **Prop-Driven Configuration** Plans include support for theme switching, responsive layout variants, and sport-specific behaviors  enabling tailored experiences for different app contexts. ### Commercial Opportunities - **White Labelling** Ready for partner branding and design slotting in premium editions. This includes  Powered by overrides, color schemes, and domain lockouts for licensed use. - **Extended Data Views** *(paid tier concepts)* - TV schedules or streaming links - Squad lists and player details - Historical fixture data with contextual overlays - Multiple competition support with league tabbing ## Testing Strategy FixtureSearch follows a practical testing approach focused on reliability, maintainability, and ease of extension. Core principles include: ### Component-Level Validation - **Unit Tests** Targeting critical logic such as data parsing, event handling, and formatter application. Kept isolated from external dependencies for fast execution. - **Props and State Flows** Validation of conditional rendering paths and layout variants triggered by props like sport type, result status, or custom formats. ### Integration Checks - **Mock API Responses** Simulating fixture payloads to test rendering across different sports and scenarios  including empty results, postponed matches, and multi-day fixtures. - **Style Regression** Light snapshots or DOM queries to catch visual regressions after layout changes or formatter tweaks. No heavy tooling required. ### Manual UX Sweeps - **Layout Responsiveness** Hand-testing across screen sizes and breakpoints to verify collapse rules, whitespace balance, and touch targets. - **Formatter Injection** *(dev-facing)* Manual checks of injected render functions to ensure type safety and graceful fallback behavior. > This strategy favors clarity and maintainability over exhaustive automation  aligning with the broader project goal of fast iteration and reusable architecture. ## Packaging Notes FixtureSearch is built for easy integration, minimal dependencies, and a clean upgrade path. Packaging considerations include: ### Module Structure - **Exported as an ES module** via `index.js`, supporting direct import into React/Vite projects and bundlers like Webpack or Rollup. - **Props-based configuration** with sensible defaults, allowing consumers to override styling, formatters, and behavior without internal edits. ### Distribution - **Published to NPM** under scoped namespace for discoverability and versioning. - **SemVer tagging** used to flag breaking changes  consumers can lock to minor/patch releases safely. - **Peer Dependencies** kept minimal (React, optional styling tools), avoiding unnecessary bloat. ### README Highlights - Quick-start example with `import` usage and minimal setup. - Props table with descriptions and examples. - Formatter injection guide to illustrate advanced customization. - Styling override tips for layout and spacing tweaks. ### Future Packaging Targets - **Tree-shakable submodules** for formatter variants. - **CDN-ready UMD build** for drop-in usage on legacy sites or non-React projects. - **Demo sandbox** (e.g. CodeSandbox or StackBlitz) to showcase layout responsiveness and formatter flexibility. > The goal is to keep install friction low and extensibility high  helping developers drop FixtureSearch into real apps with zero surprises. ## Versioning Approach FixtureSearch follows [Semantic Versioning](https://semver.org/) to communicate stability and change with clarity: - **Major** releases introduce breaking changes or significant design shifts. - **Minor** releases add features or enhancements in a backward-compatible way. - **Patch** releases address bugs, styling tweaks, or performance improvements. Consumers can safely pin to minor/patch versions with confidence.
