The immediate child data of the ROOT node have a "dir" property that describes the direction that subtree should grow. </p> <p> The <a>Diagram.layout</a> is an instance of the <a>DoubleTreeLayout</a> extension layout, defined in <a href="../extensions/DoubleTreeLayout.js">extensions/DoubleTreeLayout.js</a>.
