The talk will cover some recent examples of significant improvements in devices used in the kitchen. A live demonstration of an internet connected Sous Vide machine, Smoker Controller, Smart Home Switch and a Voice Activated assistant (Alexa) will be conducted and described. Following this, a quick overview of creating an Alexa Skill particular to the needs in a kitchen will be shown. If time allows, the creation of a DIY Smart Home device for controlling a fan will be described. Lastly, the speaker will discuss future applications of this technology in the kitchen and what future advances may bring.
