Gn0127 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.

Gn0207 then the LORD God formed the man of dust from the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living creature.  
Gn0208 And the LORD God planted a garden in Eden, in the east, and there he put the man whom he had formed.  
Gn0209 And out of the ground the LORD God made to spring up every tree that is pleasant to the sight and good for food. The tree of life was in the midst of the garden, and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.  
Gn0210 A river flowed out of Eden to water the garden, and there it divided and became four rivers.  
Gn0211 The name of the first is the Pishon. It is the one that flowed around the whole land of Havilah, where there is gold.  
Gn0212 And the gold of that land is good; bdellium and onyx stone are there.  
Gn0213 The name of the second river is the Gihon. It is the one that flowed around the whole land of Cush.  
Gn0214 And the name of the third river is the Tigris, which flows east of Assyria. And the fourth river is the Euphrates.  
Gn0215 The LORD God took the man and put him in the garden of Eden to work it and keep it.  
Gn0216 And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, “You may surely eat of every tree of the garden,  
Gn0217 but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die.”  
Gn0218 Then the LORD God said, “It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him a helper fit for him.”  
Gn0219 Now out of the ground the LORD God had formed every beast of the field and every bird of the heavens and brought them to the man to see what he would call them. And whatever the man called every living creature, that was its name.  
Gn0220 The man gave names to all livestock and to the birds of the heavens and to every beast of the field. But for Adam there was not found a helper fit for him.  
Gn0221 So the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall upon the man, and while he slept took one of his ribs and closed up its place with flesh.  
Gn0222 And the rib that the LORD God had taken from the man he made into a woman and brought her to the man.  
Gn0223 Then the man said, “This at last is bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man.”  
Gn0224 Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.  
Gn0225 And the man and his wife were both naked and were not ashamed.  
Gn0301 Now the serpent was more crafty than any other beast of the field that the LORD God had made. He said to the woman, “Did God actually say, ‘You shall not eat of any tree in the garden’?”  
Gn0302 And the woman said to the serpent, “We may eat of the fruit of the trees in the garden,  
Gn0303 but God said, ‘You shall not eat of the fruit of the tree that is in the midst of the garden, neither shall you touch it, lest you die.’”  
Gn0304 But the serpent said to the woman, “You will not surely die.  
Gn0305 For God knows that when you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.”  
Gn0306 So when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was a delight to the eyes, and that the tree was to be desired to make one wise, she took of its fruit and ate, and she also gave some to her husband who was with her, and he ate.  
Gn0307 Then the eyes of both were opened, and they knew that they were naked. And they sewed fig leaves together and made themselves loincloths.  
Gn0308 And they heard the sound of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and the man and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God among the trees of the garden.  
Gn0309 But the LORD God called to the man and said to him, “Where are you?”  
Gn0310 And he said, “I heard the sound of you in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked, and I hid myself.”  
Gn0311 He said, “Who told you that you were naked? Have you eaten of the tree of which I commanded you not to eat?”  
Gn0312 The man said, “The woman whom you gave to be with me, she gave me fruit of the tree, and I ate.”  
Gn0313 Then the LORD God said to the woman, “What is this that you have done?” The woman said, “The serpent deceived me, and I ate.”  
Gn0314 The LORD God said to the serpent, “Because you have done this, cursed are you above all livestock and above all beasts of the field; on your belly you shall go, and dust you shall eat all the days of your life.  
Gn0315 I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and her offspring; he shall bruise your head, and you shall bruise his heel.”  
Gn0316 To the woman he said, “I will surely multiply your pain in childbearing; in pain you shall bring forth children. Your desire shall be contrary to your husband, but he shall rule over you.”  
Gn0317 And to Adam he said, “Because you have listened to the voice of your wife and have eaten of the tree of which I commanded you, ‘You shall not eat of it,’ cursed is the ground because of you; in pain you shall eat of it all the days of your life;  
Gn0318 thorns and thistles it shall bring forth for you; and you shall eat the plants of the field.  
Gn0319 By the sweat of your face you shall eat bread, till you return to the ground, for out of it you were taken; for you are dust, and to dust you shall return.”  
Gn0320 The man called his wife’s name Eve, because she was the mother of all living.  
Gn0321 And the LORD God made for Adam and for his wife garments of skins and clothed them.  
Gn0322 Then the LORD God said, “Behold, the man has become like one of us in knowing good and evil. Now, lest he reach out his hand and take also of the tree of life and eat, and live forever—”

Gn0406 The LORD said to Cain, “Why are you angry, and why has your face fallen?  
Gn0407 If you do well, will you not be accepted? And if you do not do well, sin is crouching at the door. Its desire is contrary to you, but you must rule over it.”  
Gn0408 Cain spoke to Abel his brother. And when they were in the field, Cain rose up against his brother Abel and killed him.  
Gn0409 Then the LORD said to Cain, “Where is Abel your brother?” He said, “I do not know; am I my brother’s keeper?”  
Gn0410 And the LORD said, “What have you done? The voice of your brother’s blood is crying to me from the ground.  
Gn0411 And now you are cursed from the ground, which has opened its mouth to receive your brother’s blood from your hand.  
Gn0412 When you work the ground, it shall no longer yield to you its strength. You shall be a fugitive and a wanderer on the earth.”  
Gn0413 Cain said to the LORD, “My punishment is greater than I can bear.  
Gn0414 Behold, you have driven me today away from the ground, and from your face I shall be hidden. I shall be a fugitive and a wanderer on the earth, and whoever finds me will kill me.”  
Gn0415 Then the LORD said to him, “Not so! If anyone kills Cain, vengeance shall be taken on him sevenfold.” And the LORD put a mark on Cain, lest any who found him should attack him.  
Gn0416 Then Cain went away from the presence of the LORD and settled in the land of Nod, east of Eden.  
Gn0417 Cain knew his wife, and she conceived and bore Enoch. When he built a city, he called the name of the city after the name of his son, Enoch.  
Gn0418 To Enoch was born Irad, and Irad fathered Mehujael, and Mehujael fathered Methushael, and Methushael fathered Lamech.  
Gn0419 And Lamech took two wives. The name of the one was Adah, and the name of the other Zillah.  
Gn0420 Adah bore Jabal; he was the father of those who dwell in tents and have livestock.  
Gn0421 His brother’s name was Jubal; he was the father of all those who play the lyre and pipe.  
Gn0422 Zillah also bore Tubal-cain; he was the forger of all instruments of bronze and iron. The sister of Tubal-cain was Naamah.  
Gn0423 Lamech said to his wives: “Adah and Zillah, hear my voice; you wives of Lamech, listen to what I say: I have killed a man for wounding me, a young man for striking me.  
Gn0424 If Cain’s revenge is sevenfold, then Lamech’s is seventy-sevenfold.”  
Gn0425 And Adam knew his wife again, and she bore a son and called his name Seth, for she said, “God has appointed for me another offspring instead of Abel, for Cain killed him.”  
Gn0426 To Seth also a son was born, and he called his name Enosh. At that time people began to call upon the name of the LORD.  
Gn0501 This is the book of the generations of Adam. When God created man, he made him in the likeness of God.  
Gn0502 Male and female he created them, and he blessed them and named them Man when they were created.

Gn0531 Thus all the days of Lamech were 777 years, and he died.  
Gn0532 After Noah was 500 years old, Noah fathered Shem, Ham, and Japheth.  
Gn0601 When man began to multiply on the face of the land and daughters were born to them,  
Gn0602 the sons of God saw that the daughters of man were attractive. And they took as their wives any they chose.  
Gn0603 Then the LORD said, “My Spirit shall not abide in man forever, for he is flesh: his days shall be 120 years.”  
Gn0604 The Nephilim were on the earth in those days, and also afterward, when the sons of God came in to the daughters of man and they bore children to them. These were the mighty men who were of old, the men of renown.  
Gn0605 The LORD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every intention of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.  
Gn0606 And the LORD regretted that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him to his heart.  
Gn0607 So the LORD said, “I will blot out man whom I have created from the face of the land, man and animals and creeping things and birds of the heavens, for I am sorry that I have made them.”  
Gn0608 But Noah found favor in the eyes of the LORD.  
Gn0609 These are the generations of Noah. Noah was a righteous man, blameless in his generation. Noah walked with God.  
Gn0610 And Noah had three sons, Shem, Ham, and Japheth.  
Gn0611 Now the earth was corrupt in God’s sight, and the earth was filled with violence.  
Gn0612 And God saw the earth, and behold, it was corrupt, for all flesh had corrupted their way on the earth.  
Gn0613 And God said to Noah, “I have determined to make an end of all flesh, for the earth is filled with violence through them. Behold, I will destroy them with the earth.  
Gn0614 Make yourself an ark of gopher wood. Make rooms in the ark, and cover it inside and out with pitch.  
Gn0615 This is how you are to make it: the length of the ark 300 cubits, its breadth 50 cubits, and its height 30 cubits.  
Gn0616 Make a roof for the ark, and finish it to a cubit above, and set the door of the ark in its side. Make it with lower, second, and third decks.  
Gn0617 For behold, I will bring a flood of waters upon the earth to destroy all flesh in which is the breath of life under heaven. Everything that is on the earth shall die.  
Gn0618 But I will establish my covenant with you, and you shall come into the ark, you, your sons, your wife, and your sons’ wives with you.  
Gn0619 And of every living thing of all flesh, you shall bring two of every sort into the ark to keep them alive with you. They shall be male and female.  
Gn0620 Of the birds according to their kinds, and of the animals according to their kinds, of every creeping thing of the ground, according to its kind, two of every sort shall come in to you to keep them alive.  
Gn0621 Also take with you every sort of food that is eaten, and store it up. It shall serve as food for you and for them.”  
Gn0622 Noah did this; he did all that God commanded him.  
Gn0701 Then the LORD said to Noah, “Go into the ark, you and all your household, for I have seen that you are righteous before me in this generation.  
Gn0702 Take with you seven pairs of all clean animals, the male and his mate, and a pair of the animals that are not clean, the male and his mate,  
Gn0703 and seven pairs of the birds of the heavens also, male and female, to keep their offspring alive on the face of all the earth.  
Gn0704 For in seven days I will send rain on the earth forty days and forty nights, and every living thing that I have made I will blot out from the face of the ground.”  
Gn0705 And Noah did all that the LORD had commanded him.  
Gn0706 Noah was six hundred years old when the flood of waters came upon the earth.  
Gn0707 And Noah and his sons and his wife and his sons’ wives with him went into the ark to escape the waters of the flood.  
Gn0708 Of clean animals, and of animals that are not clean, and of birds, and of everything that creeps on the ground,  
Gn0709 two and two, male and female, went into the ark with Noah, as God had commanded Noah.  
Gn0710 And after seven days the waters of the flood came upon the earth.  
Gn0711 In the six hundredth year of Noah’s life, in the second month, on the seventeenth day of the month, on that day all the fountains of the great deep burst forth, and the windows of the heavens were opened.  
Gn0712 And rain fell upon the earth forty days and forty nights.  
Gn0713 On the very same day Noah and his sons, Shem and Ham and Japheth, and Noah’s wife and the three wives of his sons with them entered the ark,  
Gn0714 they and every beast, according to its kind, and all the livestock according to their kinds, and every creeping thing that creeps on the earth, according to its kind, and every bird, according to its kind, every winged creature.  
Gn0715 They went into the ark with Noah, two and two of all flesh in which there was the breath of life.  
Gn0716 And those that entered, male and female of all flesh, went in as God had commanded him. And the LORD shut him in.  
Gn0717 The flood continued forty days on the earth. The waters increased and bore up the ark, and it rose high above the earth.  
Gn0718 The waters prevailed and increased greatly on the earth, and the ark floated on the face of the waters.  
Gn0719 And the waters prevailed so mightily on the earth that all the high mountains under the whole heaven were covered.  
Gn0720 The waters prevailed above the mountains, covering them fifteen cubits deep.  
Gn0721 And all flesh died that moved on the earth, birds, livestock, beasts, all swarming creatures that swarm on the earth, and all mankind.  
Gn0722 Everything on the dry land in whose nostrils was the breath of life died.  
Gn0723 He blotted out every living thing that was on the face of the ground, man and animals and creeping things and birds of the heavens. They were blotted out from the earth. Only Noah was left, and those who were with him in the ark.  
Gn0724 And the waters prevailed on the earth 150 days.  
Gn0801 But God remembered Noah and all the beasts and all the livestock that were with him in the ark. And God made a wind blow over the earth, and the waters subsided.  
Gn0802 The fountains of the deep and the windows of the heavens were closed, the rain from the heavens was restrained,  
Gn0803 and the waters receded from the earth continually. At the end of 150 days the waters had abated,  
Gn0804 and in the seventh month, on the seventeenth day of the month, the ark came to rest on the mountains of Ararat.  
Gn0805 And the waters continued to abate until the tenth month; in the tenth month, on the first day of the month, the tops of the mountains were seen.  
Gn0806 At the end of forty days Noah opened the window of the ark that he had made  
Gn0807 and sent forth a raven. It went to and fro until the waters were dried up from the earth.  
Gn0808 Then he sent forth a dove from him, to see if the waters had subsided from the face of the ground.  
Gn0809 But the dove found no place to set her foot, and she returned to him to the ark, for the waters were still on the face of the whole earth. So he put out his hand and took her and brought her into the ark with him.  
Gn0810 He waited another seven days, and again he sent forth the dove out of the ark.  
Gn0811 And the dove came back to him in the evening, and behold, in her mouth was a freshly plucked olive leaf. So Noah knew that the waters had subsided from the earth.  
Gn0812 Then he waited another seven days and sent forth the dove, and she did not return to him anymore.  
Gn0813 In the six hundred and first year, in the first month, the first day of the month, the waters were dried from off the earth. And Noah removed the covering of the ark and looked, and behold, the face of the ground was dry.  
Gn0814 In the second month, on the twenty-seventh day of the month, the earth had dried out.  
Gn0815 Then God said to Noah,  
Gn0816 “Go out from the ark, you and your wife, and your sons and your sons’ wives with you.  
Gn0817 Bring out with you every living thing that is with you of all flesh—birds and animals and every creeping thing that creeps on the earth—that they may swarm on the earth, and be fruitful and multiply on the earth.”  
Gn0818 So Noah went out, and his sons and his wife and his sons’ wives with him.  
Gn0819 Every beast, every creeping thing, and every bird, everything that moves on the earth, went out by families from the ark.  
Gn0820 Then Noah built an altar to the LORD and took some of every clean animal and some of every clean bird and offered burnt offerings on the altar.  
Gn0821 And when the LORD smelled the pleasing aroma, the LORD said in his heart, “I will never again curse the ground because of man, for the intention of man’s heart is evil from his youth. Neither will I ever again strike down every living creature as I have done.  
Gn0822 While the earth remains, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night, shall not cease.”  
Gn0901 And God blessed Noah and his sons and said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth.  
Gn0902 The fear of you and the dread of you shall be upon every beast of the earth and upon every bird of the heavens, upon everything that creeps on the ground and all the fish of the sea. Into your hand they are delivered.  
Gn0903 Every moving thing that lives shall be food for you. And as I gave you the green plants, I give you everything.  
Gn0904 But you shall not eat flesh with its life, that is, its blood.  
Gn0905 And for your lifeblood I will require a reckoning: from every beast I will require it and from man. From his fellow man I will require a reckoning for the life of man.  
Gn0906 “Whoever sheds the blood of man, by man shall his blood be shed, for God made man in his own image.  
Gn0907 And you, be fruitful and multiply, increase greatly on the earth and multiply in it.”  
Gn0908 Then God said to Noah and to his sons with him,  
Gn0909 “Behold, I establish my covenant with you and your offspring after you,  
Gn0910 and with every living creature that is with you, the birds, the livestock, and every beast of the earth with you, as many as came out of the ark; it is for every beast of the earth.  
Gn0911 I establish my covenant with you, that never again shall all flesh be cut off by the waters of the flood, and never again shall there be a flood to destroy the earth.”  
Gn0912 And God said, “This is the sign of the covenant that I make between me and you and every living creature that is with you, for all future generations:  
Gn0913 I have set my bow in the cloud, and it shall be a sign of the covenant between me and the earth.  
Gn0914 When I bring clouds over the earth and the bow is seen in the clouds,  
Gn0915 I will remember my covenant that is between me and you and every living creature of all flesh. And the waters shall never again become a flood to destroy all flesh.  
Gn0916 When the bow is in the clouds, I will see it and remember the everlasting covenant between God and every living creature of all flesh that is on the earth.”  
Gn0917 God said to Noah, “This is the sign of the covenant that I have established between me and all flesh that is on the earth.”  
Gn0918 The sons of Noah who went forth from the ark were Shem, Ham, and Japheth. (Ham was the father of Canaan.)  
Gn0919 These three were the sons of Noah, and from these the people of the whole earth were dispersed.  
Gn0920 Noah began to be a man of the soil, and he planted a vineyard.  
Gn0921 He drank of the wine and became drunk and lay uncovered in his tent.  
Gn0922 And Ham, the father of Canaan, saw the nakedness of his father and told his two brothers outside.  
Gn0923 Then Shem and Japheth took a garment, laid it on both their shoulders, and walked backward and covered the nakedness of their father. Their faces were turned backward, and they did not see their father’s nakedness.  
Gn0924 When Noah awoke from his wine and knew what his youngest son had done to him,  
Gn0925 he said, “Cursed be Canaan; a servant of servants shall he be to his brothers.”  
Gn0926 He also said, “Blessed be the LORD, the God of Shem; and let Canaan be his servant.  
Gn0927 May God enlarge Japheth, and let him dwell in the tents of Shem, and let Canaan be his servant.”  
Gn0928 After the flood Noah lived 350 years.  
Gn0929 All the days of Noah were 950 years, and he died.  
Gn1001 These are the generations of the sons of Noah, Shem, Ham, and Japheth. Sons were born to them after the flood.  
Gn1002 The sons of Japheth: Gomer, Magog, Madai, Javan, Tubal, Meshech, and Tiras.  
Gn1003 The sons of Gomer: Ashkenaz, Riphath, and Togarmah.  
Gn1004 The sons of Javan: Elishah, Tarshish, Kittim, and Dodanim.  
Gn1005 From these the coastland peoples spread in their lands, each with his own language, by their clans, in their nations.  
Gn1006 The sons of Ham: Cush, Egypt, Put, and Canaan.  
Gn1007 The sons of Cush: Seba, Havilah, Sabtah, Raamah, and Sabteca. The sons of Raamah: Sheba and Dedan.  
Gn1008 Cush fathered Nimrod; he was the first on earth to be a mighty man.  
Gn1009 He was a mighty hunter before the LORD. Therefore it is said, “Like Nimrod a mighty hunter before the LORD.”  
Gn1010 The beginning of his kingdom was Babel, Erech, Accad, and Calneh, in the land of Shinar.  
Gn1011 From that land he went into Assyria and built Nineveh, Rehoboth-Ir, Calah, and  
Gn1012 Resen between Nineveh and Calah; that is the great city.  
Gn1013 Egypt fathered Ludim, Anamim, Lehabim, Naphtuhim,  
Gn1014 Pathrusim, Casluhim (from whom the Philistines came), and Caphtorim.  
Gn1015 Canaan fathered Sidon his firstborn and Heth,  
Gn1016 and the Jebusites, the Amorites, the Girgashites,  
Gn1017 the Hivites, the Arkites, the Sinites,  
Gn1018 the Arvadites, the Zemarites, and the Hamathites. Afterward the clans of the Canaanites dispersed.  
Gn1019 And the territory of the Canaanites extended from Sidon in the direction of Gerar as far as Gaza, and in the direction of Sodom, Gomorrah, Admah, and Zeboiim, as far as Lasha.  
Gn1020 These are the sons of Ham, by their clans, their languages, their lands, and their nations.  
Gn1021 To Shem also, the father of all the children of Eber, the elder brother of Japheth, children were born.  
Gn1022 The sons of Shem: Elam, Asshur, Arpachshad, Lud, and Aram.  
Gn1023 The sons of Aram: Uz, Hul, Gether, and Mash.  
Gn1024 Arpachshad fathered Shelah; and Shelah fathered Eber.  
Gn1025 To Eber were born two sons: the name of the one was Peleg, for in his days the earth was divided, and his brother’s name was Joktan.  
Gn1026 Joktan fathered Almodad, Sheleph, Hazarmaveth, Jerah,  
Gn1027   Hadoram, Uzal, Diklah,   
Gn1028 Obal, Abimael, Sheba,  
Gn1029 Ophir, Havilah, and Jobab; all these were the sons of Joktan.  
Gn1030 The territory in which they lived extended from Mesha in the direction of Sephar to the hill country of the east.  
Gn1031 These are the sons of Shem, by their clans, their languages, their lands, and their nations.  
Gn1032 These are the clans of the sons of Noah, according to their genealogies, in their nations, and from these the nations spread abroad on the earth after the flood.  
Gn1101 Now the whole earth had one language and the same words.  
Gn1102 And as people migrated from the east, they found a plain in the land of Shinar and settled there.  
Gn1103 And they said to one another, “Come, let us make bricks, and burn them thoroughly.” And they had brick for stone, and bitumen for mortar.  
Gn1104 Then they said, “Come, let us build ourselves a city and a tower with its top in the heavens, and let us make a name for ourselves, lest we be dispersed over the face of the whole earth.”  
Gn1105 And the LORD came down to see the city and the tower, which the children of man had built.  
Gn1106 And the LORD said, “Behold, they are one people, and they have all one language, and this is only the beginning of what they will do. And nothing that they propose to do will now be impossible for them.  
Gn1107 Come, let us go down and there confuse their language, so that they may not understand one another’s speech.”  
Gn1108 So the LORD dispersed them from there over the face of all the earth, and they left off building the city.  
Gn1109 Therefore its name was called Babel, because there the LORD confused the language of all the earth. And from there the LORD dispersed them over the face of all the earth.  
Gn1110 These are the generations of Shem. When Shem was 100 years old, he fathered Arpachshad two years after the flood.  
Gn1111 And Shem lived after he fathered Arpachshad 500 years and had other sons and daughters.  
Gn1112 When Arpachshad had lived 35 years, he fathered Shelah.  
Gn1113 And Arpachshad lived after he fathered Shelah 403 years and had other sons and daughters.  
Gn1114 When Shelah had lived 30 years, he fathered Eber.  
Gn1115 And Shelah lived after he fathered Eber 403 years and had other sons and daughters.  
Gn1116 When Eber had lived 34 years, he fathered Peleg.  
Gn1117 And Eber lived after he fathered Peleg 430 years and had other sons and daughters.  
Gn1118 When Peleg had lived 30 years, he fathered Reu.  
Gn1119 And Peleg lived after he fathered Reu 209 years and had other sons and daughters.  
Gn1120 When Reu had lived 32 years, he fathered Serug.  
Gn1121 And Reu lived after he fathered Serug 207 years and had other sons and daughters.  
Gn1122 When Serug had lived 30 years, he fathered Nahor.  
Gn1123 And Serug lived after he fathered Nahor 200 years and had other sons and daughters.  
Gn1124 When Nahor had lived 29 years, he fathered Terah.  
Gn1125 And Nahor lived after he fathered Terah 119 years and had other sons and daughters.  
Gn1126 When Terah had lived 70 years, he fathered Abram, Nahor, and Haran.  
Gn1127 Now these are the generations of Terah. Terah fathered Abram, Nahor, and Haran; and Haran fathered Lot.  
Gn1128 Haran died in the presence of his father Terah in the land of his kindred, in Ur of the Chaldeans.  
Gn1129 And Abram and Nahor took wives. The name of Abram’s wife was Sarai, and the name of Nahor’s wife, Milcah, the daughter of Haran the father of Milcah and Iscah.  
Gn1130 Now Sarai was barren; she had no child.  
Gn1131 Terah took Abram his son and Lot the son of Haran, his grandson, and Sarai his daughter-in-law, his son Abram’s wife, and they went forth together from Ur of the Chaldeans to go into the land of Canaan, but when they came to Haran, they settled there.  
Gn1132 The days of Terah were 205 years, and Terah died in Haran.  
Gn1201 Now the LORD said to Abram, “Go from your country and your kindred and your father’s house to the land that I will show you.  
Gn1202 And I will make of you a great nation, and I will bless you and make your name great, so that you will be a blessing.  
Gn1203 I will bless those who bless you, and him who dishonors you I will curse, and in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.”  
Gn1204 So Abram went, as the LORD had told him, and Lot went with him. Abram was seventy-five years old when he departed from Haran.  
Gn1205 And Abram took Sarai his wife, and Lot his brother’s son, and all their possessions that they had gathered, and the people that they had acquired in Haran, and they set out to go to the land of Canaan. When they came to the land of Canaan,  
Gn1206 Abram passed through the land to the place at Shechem, to the oak of Moreh. At that time the Canaanites were in the land.  
Gn1207 Then the LORD appeared to Abram and said, “To your offspring I will give this land.” So he built there an altar to the LORD, who had appeared to him.  
Gn1208 From there he moved to the hill country on the east of Bethel and pitched his tent, with Bethel on the west and Ai on the east. And there he built an altar to the LORD and called upon the name of the LORD.  
Gn1209 And Abram journeyed on, still going toward the Negeb.  
Gn1210 Now there was a famine in the land. So Abram went down to Egypt to sojourn there, for the famine was severe in the land.  
Gn1211 When he was about to enter Egypt, he said to Sarai his wife, “I know that you are a woman beautiful in appearance,  
Gn1212 and when the Egyptians see you, they will say, ‘This is his wife.’ Then they will kill me, but they will let you live.  
Gn1213 Say you are my sister, that it may go well with me because of you, and that my life may be spared for your sake.”  
Gn1214 When Abram entered Egypt, the Egyptians saw that the woman was very beautiful.  
Gn1215 And when the princes of Pharaoh saw her, they praised her to Pharaoh. And the woman was taken into Pharaoh’s house.  
Gn1216 And for her sake he dealt well with Abram; and he had sheep, oxen, male donkeys, male servants, female servants, female donkeys, and camels.  
Gn1217 But the LORD afflicted Pharaoh and his house with great plagues because of Sarai, Abram’s wife.  
Gn1218 So Pharaoh called Abram and said, “What is this you have done to me? Why did you not tell me that she was your wife?  
Gn1219 Why did you say, ‘She is my sister,’ so that I took her for my wife? Now then, here is your wife; take her, and go.”  
Gn1220 And Pharaoh gave men orders concerning him, and they sent him away with his wife and all that he had.  
Gn1301 So Abram went up from Egypt, he and his wife and all that he had, and Lot with him, into the Negeb.  
Gn1302 Now Abram was very rich in livestock, in silver, and in gold.  
Gn1303 And he journeyed on from the Negeb as far as Bethel to the place where his tent had been at the beginning, between Bethel and Ai,  
Gn1304 to the place where he had made an altar at the first. And there Abram called upon the name of the LORD.  
Gn1305 And Lot, who went with Abram, also had flocks and herds and tents,  
Gn1306 so that the land could not support both of them dwelling together; for their possessions were so great that they could not dwell together,  
Gn1307 and there was strife between the herdsmen of Abram’s livestock and the herdsmen of Lot’s livestock. At that time the Canaanites and the Perizzites were dwelling in the land.  
Gn1308 Then Abram said to Lot, “Let there be no strife between you and me, and between your herdsmen and my herdsmen, for we are kinsmen.  
Gn1309 Is not the whole land before you? Separate yourself from me. If you take the left hand, then I will go to the right, or if you take the right hand, then I will go to the left.”  
Gn1310 And Lot lifted up his eyes and saw that the Jordan Valley was well watered everywhere like the garden of the LORD, like the land of Egypt, in the direction of Zoar. (This was before the LORD destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah.)  
Gn1311 So Lot chose for himself all the Jordan Valley, and Lot journeyed east. Thus they separated from each other.  
Gn1312 Abram settled in the land of Canaan, while Lot settled among the cities of the valley and moved his tent as far as Sodom.  
Gn1313 Now the men of Sodom were wicked, great sinners against the LORD.  
Gn1314 The LORD said to Abram, after Lot had separated from him, “Lift up your eyes and look from the place where you are, northward and southward and eastward and westward,  
Gn1315 for all the land that you see I will give to you and to your offspring forever.  
Gn1316 I will make your offspring as the dust of the earth, so that if one can count the dust of the earth, your offspring also can be counted.  
Gn1317 Arise, walk through the length and the breadth of the land, for I will give it to you.”  
Gn1318 So Abram moved his tent and came and settled by the oaks of Mamre, which are at Hebron, and there he built an altar to the LORD.  
Gn1401 In the days of Amraphel king of Shinar, Arioch king of Ellasar, Chedorlaomer king of Elam, and Tidal king of Goiim,  
Gn1402 these kings made war with Bera king of Sodom, Birsha king of Gomorrah, Shinab king of Admah, Shemeber king of Zeboiim, and the king of Bela (that is, Zoar).  
Gn1403 And all these joined forces in the Valley of Siddim (that is, the Salt Sea).  
Gn1404 Twelve years they had served Chedorlaomer, but in the thirteenth year they rebelled.  
Gn1405 In the fourteenth year Chedorlaomer and the kings who were with him came and defeated the Rephaim in Ashteroth-karnaim, the Zuzim in Ham, the Emim in Shaveh-kiriathaim,  
Gn1406 and the Horites in their hill country of Seir as far as El-paran on the border of the wilderness.  
Gn1407 Then they turned back and came to En-mishpat (that is, Kadesh) and defeated all the country of the Amalekites, and also the Amorites who were dwelling in Hazazon-tamar.  
Gn1408 Then the king of Sodom, the king of Gomorrah, the king of Admah, the king of Zeboiim, and the king of Bela (that is, Zoar) went out, and they joined battle in the Valley of Siddim  
Gn1409 with Chedorlaomer king of Elam, Tidal king of Goiim, Amraphel king of Shinar, and Arioch king of Ellasar, four kings against five.  
Gn1410 Now the Valley of Siddim was full of bitumen pits, and as the kings of Sodom and Gomorrah fled, some fell into them, and the rest fled to the hill country.  
Gn1411 So the enemy took all the possessions of Sodom and Gomorrah, and all their provisions, and went their way.  
Gn1412 They also took Lot, the son of Abram’s brother, who was dwelling in Sodom, and his possessions, and went their way.  
Gn1413 Then one who had escaped came and told Abram the Hebrew, who was living by the oaks of Mamre the Amorite, brother of Eshcol and of Aner. These were allies of Abram.  
Gn1414 When Abram heard that his kinsman had been taken captive, he led forth his trained men, born in his house, 318 of them, and went in pursuit as far as Dan.  
Gn1415 And he divided his forces against them by night, he and his servants, and defeated them and pursued them to Hobah, north of Damascus.  
Gn1416 Then he brought back all the possessions, and also brought back his kinsman Lot with his possessions, and the women and the people.  
Gn1417 After his return from the defeat of Chedorlaomer and the kings who were with him, the king of Sodom went out to meet him at the Valley of Shaveh (that is, the King’s Valley).  
Gn1418 And Melchizedek king of Salem brought out bread and wine. (He was priest of God Most High.)  
Gn1419 And he blessed him and said, “Blessed be Abram by God Most High, Possessor of heaven and earth;  
Gn1420 and blessed be God Most High, who has delivered your enemies into your hand!” And Abram gave him a tenth of everything.  
Gn1421 And the king of Sodom said to Abram, “Give me the persons, but take the goods for yourself.”  
Gn1422 But Abram said to the king of Sodom, “I have lifted my hand to the LORD, God Most High, Possessor of heaven and earth,  
Gn1423 that I would not take a thread or a sandal strap or anything that is yours, lest you should say, ‘I have made Abram rich.’  
Gn1424 I will take nothing but what the young men have eaten, and the share of the men who went with me. Let Aner, Eshcol, and Mamre take their share.”  
Gn1501 After these things the word of the LORD came to Abram in a vision: “Fear not, Abram, I am your shield; your reward shall be very great.”  
Gn1502 But Abram said, “O Lord GOD, what will you give me, for I continue childless, and the heir of my house is Eliezer of Damascus?”  
Gn1503 And Abram said, “Behold, you have given me no offspring, and a member of my household will be my heir.”  
Gn1504 And behold, the word of the LORD came to him: “This man shall not be your heir; your very own son shall be your heir.”  
Gn1505 And he brought him outside and said, “Look toward heaven, and number the stars, if you are able to number them.” Then he said to him, “So shall your offspring be.”  
Gn1506 And he believed the LORD, and he counted it to him as righteousness.  
Gn1507 And he said to him, “I am the LORD who brought you out from Ur of the Chaldeans to give you this land to possess.”  
Gn1508 But he said, “O Lord GOD, how am I to know that I shall possess it?”  
Gn1509 He said to him, “Bring me a heifer three years old, a female goat three years old, a ram three years old, a turtledove, and a young pigeon.”  
Gn1510 And he brought him all these, cut them in half, and laid each half over against the other. But he did not cut the birds in half.  
Gn1511 And when birds of prey came down on the carcasses, Abram drove them away.  
Gn1512 As the sun was going down, a deep sleep fell on Abram. And behold, dreadful and great darkness fell upon him.  
Gn1513 Then the LORD said to Abram, “Know for certain that your offspring will be sojourners in a land that is not theirs and will be servants there, and they will be afflicted for four hundred years.  
Gn1514 But I will bring judgment on the nation that they serve, and afterward they shall come out with great possessions.  
Gn1515 As for you, you shall go to your fathers in peace; you shall be buried in a good old age.  
Gn1516 And they shall come back here in the fourth generation, for the iniquity of the Amorites is not yet complete.”  
Gn1517 When the sun had gone down and it was dark, behold, a smoking fire pot and a flaming torch passed between these pieces.  
Gn1518 On that day the LORD made a covenant with Abram, saying, “To your offspring I give this land, from the river of Egypt to the great river, the river Euphrates,  
Gn1519 the land of the Kenites, the Kenizzites, the Kadmonites,  
Gn1520 the Hittites, the Perizzites, the Rephaim,  
Gn1521 the Amorites, the Canaanites, the Girgashites and the Jebusites.”  
Gn1601 Now Sarai, Abram’s wife, had borne him no children. She had a female Egyptian servant whose name was Hagar.  
Gn1602 And Sarai said to Abram, “Behold now, the LORD has prevented me from bearing children. Go in to my servant; it may be that I shall obtain children by her.” And Abram listened to the voice of Sarai.  
Gn1603 So, after Abram had lived ten years in the land of Canaan, Sarai, Abram’s wife, took Hagar the Egyptian, her servant, and gave her to Abram her husband as a wife.  
Gn1604 And he went in to Hagar, and she conceived. And when she saw that she had conceived, she looked with contempt on her mistress.  
Gn1605 And Sarai said to Abram, “May the wrong done to me be on you! I gave my servant to your embrace, and when she saw that she had conceived, she looked on me with contempt. May the LORD judge between you and me!”  
Gn1606 But Abram said to Sarai, “Behold, your servant is in your power; do to her as you please.” Then Sarai dealt harshly with her, and she fled from her.  
Gn1607 The angel of the LORD found her by a spring of water in the wilderness, the spring on the way to Shur.  
Gn1608 And he said, “Hagar, servant of Sarai, where have you come from and where are you going?” She said, “I am fleeing from my mistress Sarai.”  
Gn1609 The angel of the LORD said to her, “Return to your mistress and submit to her.”  
Gn1610 The angel of the LORD also said to her, “I will surely multiply your offspring so that they cannot be numbered for multitude.”  
Gn1611 And the angel of the LORD said to her, “Behold, you are pregnant and shall bear a son. You shall call his name Ishmael, because the LORD has listened to your affliction.  
Gn1612 He shall be a wild donkey of a man, his hand against everyone and everyone’s hand against him, and he shall dwell over against all his kinsmen.”  
Gn1613 So she called the name of the LORD who spoke to her, “You are a God of seeing,” for she said, “Truly here I have seen him who looks after me.”  
Gn1614 Therefore the well was called Beer-lahai-roi; it lies between Kadesh and Bered.  
Gn1615 And Hagar bore Abram a son, and Abram called the name of his son, whom Hagar bore, Ishmael.  
Gn1616 Abram was eighty-six years old when Hagar bore Ishmael to Abram.  
Gn1701 When Abram was ninety-nine years old the LORD appeared to Abram and said to him, “I am God Almighty; walk before me, and be blameless,  
Gn1702 that I may make my covenant between me and you, and may multiply you greatly.”  
Gn1703 Then Abram fell on his face. And God said to him,  
Gn1704 “Behold, my covenant is with you, and you shall be the father of a multitude of nations.  
Gn1705 No longer shall your name be called Abram, but your name shall be Abraham, for I have made you the father of a multitude of nations.  
Gn1706 I will make you exceedingly fruitful, and I will make you into nations, and kings shall come from you.  
Gn1707 And I will establish my covenant between me and you and your offspring after you throughout their generations for an everlasting covenant, to be God to you and to your offspring after you.  
Gn1708 And I will give to you and to your offspring after you the land of your sojournings, all the land of Canaan, for an everlasting possession, and I will be their God.”  
Gn1709 And God said to Abraham, “As for you, you shall keep my covenant, you and your offspring after you throughout their generations.  
Gn1710 This is my covenant, which you shall keep, between me and you and your offspring after you: Every male among y
