# Testing Solutions Analysis for UI Element Library ## Current Situation Assessment Our current testing setup with **Playwright + @web/test-runner + Mocha** has proven fragile and prone to: - ❌ Cryptic timeout errors with no useful debugging information - ❌ Import resolution failures that cause silent hangs - ❌ Syntax errors that result in timeouts instead of clear error messages - ❌ Poor isolation between tests leading to cascading failures - ❌ No incremental testing - always runs full suite - ❌ Difficult debugging workflow ## A) Improvements Made to Current Setup ### ✅ Enhanced Configuration - Created `web-test-runner.config.js` with proper browser configuration - Added validation script (`validate-tests.js`) to catch syntax errors early - Improved timeout settings and sequential test execution - Better error reporting and logging ### ✅ Pre-test Validation - Detects unclosed brackets, missing imports, potential infinite loops - **Vitest** offers the best balance of speed, reliability, and DX - Browser mode provides real DOM testing - Incremental migration possible (run both systems temporarily) - Future-proof choice with active development ### **Alternative Approach**: Hybrid Testing Strategy 1. **Unit tests** → Vitest (fast feedback, component logic) 2. **Integration tests** → Current WTR setup (real browser, user flows) 3. **E2E tests** → Playwright Test (full application testing) ## Implementation Steps ### Phase 1: Immediate (Completed) -
