### Enhancement

-   UltraHDR (ISO 21496-1 gain map) JPEGs are now detected and resized via libvips's native `uhdrload`/`uhdrsave` pipeline, so gain maps are preserved automatically through the existing resize step ([#74873](https://github.com/WordPress/gutenberg/pull/74873)).
-   Automatically retry failed uploads with exponential backoff for transient (network/server) errors. Retry behavior is configurable via the `retry` store setting; non-transient failures and child sideloads are not retried. The upload queue can also be paused and resumed, allowing uploads to halt while the browser is offline and continue on reconnect ([#76765](https://github.com/WordPress/gutenberg/pull/76765)).

### Bug Fix

-   Route very large images, especially interlaced/progressive JPEGs, to server-side processing instead of attempting client-side processing that would exceed the 1 GiB wasm-vips memory cap and fail. [#78949](https://github.com/WordPress/gutenberg/pull/78949).

### Bug Fix

-   Fix `-scaled` suffix propagating to every sub-size filename when an image exceeds `big_image_size_threshold`. Threshold scaling now runs as a sideload after the original is uploaded, so sub-sizes inherit the un-suffixed basename — matching WordPress core's `wp_create_image_subsizes()` naming.
-   Propagate the post-finalize attachment from `mediaFinalize` back to the queue so the block markup picks up the `-scaled` URL. Without this, oversized client-side uploads kept the unscaled original's URL in the block, and `wp_calculate_image_srcset()` could not match the `src` to any entry in `$image_meta['sizes']` — so the front-end `<img>` shipped without `srcset`.
