### Major Changes
- Refactor workflow and tool types to remove Zod-specific constraints ([#11814](https://github.com/mastra-ai/mastra/pull/11814))
Removed Zod-specific type constraints across all workflow implementations and tool types, replacing them with generic types. This ensures type consistency across default, evented, and inngest workflows while preparing for Zod v4 migration.
**Workflow Changes:**
- Removed `z.ZodObject<any>` and `z.ZodType<any>` constraints from all workflow generic types
- Updated method signatures to use `TInput` and `TState` directly instead of `z.infer<TInput>` and `z.infer<TState>`
- Aligned conditional types across all workflow implementations using `TInput extends unknown` pattern
- Fixed `TSteps` generic to properly use `TEngineType` instead of `any`
**Tool Changes:**
- Removed Zod schema constraints from `ToolExecutionContext` and related interfaces
- Simplified type parameters from `TSuspendSchema extends ZodLikeSchema` to `TSuspend` and `TResume`
- Updated tool execution context types to use generic types
**Type Utilities:**
- Refactored type helpers to work with generic schemas instead of Zod-specific types
- Updated type extraction utilities for better compatibility
This change maintains backward compatibility while improving type consistency and preparing for Zod v4 support across all affected packages.

- Add schema-driven metadata extraction with Zod support ([#11833](https://github.com/mastra-ai/mastra/pull/11833))
Introduces a new `SchemaExtractor` that enables extraction of custom structured metadata from document chunks using user-defined Zod schemas. This allows for domain-specific metadata structures (e.g., product details, legal entities, sentiment analysis) to be reliably extracted via LLM structured output.
- Extract domain-specific metadata using your own Zod schemas (e.g., product details, legal entities, sentiment)
- Customize extraction behavior with your own LLM model and instructions
- Organize extracted data by nesting it under custom metadata keys
- Existing extractors (title, summary, keywords, questions) remain unchanged and fully compatible
**Before** (limited to built-in extractors):

- Add dynamic vectorStore resolver support for multi-tenant applications ([#11542](https://github.com/mastra-ai/mastra/pull/11542))
The vectorStore option in createVectorQueryTool and createGraphRAGTool now accepts a resolver function in addition to static instances. This enables multi-tenant setups where each tenant has isolated data in separate PostgreSQL schemas.
Also improves providerOptions type safety by using MastraEmbeddingOptions types instead of a generic Record type.

- Renamed `keepSeparator` parameter to `separatorPosition` with a cleaner type. ([#11802](https://github.com/mastra-ai/mastra/pull/11802))
The `keepSeparator` parameter had a confusing `boolean | 'start' | 'end'` type where `true` was secretly an alias for `'start'`. The new `separatorPosition` parameter uses explicit `'start' | 'end'` values, and omitting the parameter discards the separator (previous default behavior).

- Add embedded documentation support for Mastra packages ([#11472](https://github.com/mastra-ai/mastra/pull/11472))
Mastra packages now include embedded documentation in the published npm package under `dist/docs/`. This enables coding agents and AI assistants to understand and use the framework by reading documentation directly from `node_modules`.
Each package includes:
- **SKILL.md** - Entry point explaining the package's purpose and capabilities
- **SOURCE_MAP.json** - Machine-readable index mapping exports to types and implementation files
- **Topic folders** - Conceptual documentation organized by feature area
Documentation is driven by the `packages` frontmatter field in MDX files, which maps docs to their corresponding packages. CI validation ensures all docs include this field.
- Add maxSize support for HTML chunking strategies ([#10654](https://github.com/mastra-ai/mastra/pull/10654))
Added support for the `maxSize` option in HTML chunking strategies (`headers` and `sections`), allowing users to control the maximum chunk size when chunking HTML documents. Previously, HTML chunks could be excessively large when sections contained substantial content.
**Changes:**
- Added `maxSize` support to `headers` strategy - applies `RecursiveCharacterTransformer` after header-based splitting
- Added `maxSize` support to `sections` strategy - applies `RecursiveCharacterTransformer` after section-based splitting
- Fixed `splitHtmlByHeaders` content extraction bug - changed from broken `nextElementSibling` to working `parentNode.childNodes` approach
- Added comprehensive test coverage including integration test with real arXiv paper

**Results from real arXiv paper test:**
- Without maxSize: 22 chunks, max 45,531 chars (too big!)
- With maxSize=512: 499 chunks, max 512 chars (properly sized)

- Add table support to markdown transformer ([#10487](https://github.com/mastra-ai/mastra/pull/10487))
Added support for markdown tables in the `MarkdownHeaderTransformer` to prevent tables from being split in the middle during document chunking. Tables are now treated as semantic units similar to code blocks.
**Changes:**
- Updated `MarkdownHeaderTransformer` to detect and preserve markdown tables during chunking
- Tables are identified by lines containing pipe characters (`|`)
- Tables are kept together as a single block, preventing splits that would break table structure
- Added comprehensive test coverage for table handling in various scenarios
- Works with both simple and complex tables, including multi-row tables and tables with different formatting

- Fix invalid filter handling in vector queries and graph-rag searches. Invalid filter inputs now throw explicit errors instead of silently falling back to empty filters, preventing unintended unfiltered results. ([#10375](https://github.com/mastra-ai/mastra/pull/10375))
- Add support for AI SDK v6 (LanguageModelV3) ([#11191](https://github.com/mastra-ai/mastra/pull/11191))
Agents can now use `LanguageModelV3` models from AI SDK v6 beta providers like `@ai-sdk/openai@^3.0.0-beta`.
**New features:**
- Usage normalization: V3's nested usage format is normalized to Mastra's flat format with `reasoningTokens`, `cachedInputTokens`, and raw data preserved in a `raw` field
**Backward compatible:** All existing V1 and V2 models continue to work unchanged.

### Major Changes

Removed Zod-specific type constraints across all workflow implementations and tool types, replacing them with generic types. This ensures type consistency across default, evented, and inngest workflows while preparing for Zod v4 migration.
**Workflow Changes:**
- Removed `z.ZodObject<any>` and `z.ZodType<any>` constraints from all workflow generic types
- Updated method signatures to use `TInput` and `TState` directly instead of `z.infer<TInput>` and `z.infer<TState>`
- Aligned conditional types across all workflow implementations using `TInput extends unknown` pattern
- Fixed `TSteps` generic to properly use `TEngineType` instead of `any`
**Tool Changes:**
- Removed Zod schema constraints from `ToolExecutionContext` and related interfaces
- Simplified type parameters from `TSuspendSchema extends ZodLikeSchema` to `TSuspend` and `TResume`
- Updated tool execution context types to use generic types
**Type Utilities:**
- Refactored type helpers to work with generic schemas instead of Zod-specific types
- Updated type extraction utilities for better compatibility

Introduces a new `SchemaExtractor` that enables extraction of custom structured metadata from document chunks using user-defined Zod schemas. This allows for domain-specific metadata structures (e.g., product details, legal entities, sentiment analysis) to be reliably extracted via LLM structured output.
- Extract domain-specific metadata using your own Zod schemas (e.g., product details, legal entities, sentiment)
- Customize extraction behavior with your own LLM model and instructions
- Organize extracted data by nesting it under custom metadata keys
- Existing extractors (title, summary, keywords, questions) remain unchanged and fully compatible
**Before** (limited to built-in extractors):

Fixes #11799
- Renamed `keepSeparator` parameter to `separatorPosition` with a cleaner type. ([#11802](https://github.com/mastra-ai/mastra/pull/11802))
The `keepSeparator` parameter had a confusing `boolean | 'start' | 'end'` type where `true` was secretly an alias for `'start'`. The new `separatorPosition` parameter uses explicit `'start' | 'end'` values, and omitting the parameter discards the separator (previous default behavior).
